HJSB is dedicated to uplifting “all Black/African-Americans to affirm that they deserve safety, love, equity, respect, and joy.” HJSB opened the first Black History Exhibition on State Street in 2022, chronicling a rich and complex history of Black life in Santa Barbara. Our vision is to invite the Santa Barbara community at large, and school community members to engage, learn, and celebrate Black History from and in our own neighborhoods.

The exhibition will be open to the public at The Riviera Ridge School’s historic Tea House on Saturday, February 25th, and Sunday, February 26th, from 2 pm to 4 pm at 2130 Mission Ridge Road Santa Barbara, CA 93103 for all Santa Barbara and Central Coast community members to learn and enjoy. If you are a school or community organization and would like to schedule a private viewing the week of February 20th, please email Tayllor Johnson at [email protected].
